Boys Rite Journey Hike

This term in Boys Rite Journey we have been very lucky to go on multiple excursions. As Outdoor Education was a focus in PE, we have been on many hikes, and we also went orienteering. Hikes through Nail Can Hill and along Bakes Trail were great warm-ups for our full day hike on the 7th of September. We split into two groups where one group went to Red Light Hill, and the other went from the Monument along Nail Can Hill’s Ridge Trail to Reedy Dam.

During the day, all students completed a solo time. This was around 60 minutes on our own where we had to reflect on ourselves and how we are travelling. We wrote letters to our Year 12 selves, that we will receive back in three years’ time. These letters were based on tips for ourselves, what we would like to have accomplish by then and in the future, and things we plan on doing in between now and then. Some people kept themselves busy and built huts, while others just laid there enjoying the sunshine, listening to the various sounds.

Along the hikes, we had a few tough hills to climb. We all supported one another and covered around 14km’s on each of the hikes. It was a great achievement by all, and we had an exciting day in the stunning sunshine. We all enjoyed a day out of the classroom and gaining some extra fitness. Huge thanks to Mr Wellington, Pastor John, Mr Holman and Robbie for coming along with us on the different hikes.
