St Paul’s provides boarding to boys and girls in single-sex facilities.

Students may become either full boarders (for 7 days a week during term time) or weekly boarders (Monday afternoon to Friday morning). Overnight or short-stay residential care is also available to families of day students on a case-by-case basis.

Our boarding houses are regarded as each student’s home away from home. Therefore, day students and teaching staff do not have access to the boarding houses, our boarding staff members do not have responsibilities in the day school and students are able to give their own sense of individuality to their room or bay. We recognise that the types of relationships that form between boarding students and boarding house parents differ qualitatively from the relationships that form between students and their teachers.

Many of our boarding parents are attracted to St Paul’s because of its rural location. These parents either value our location because they are located in rural areas themselves or because they recognise that we offer a safe and nurturing environment far away from the distractions of urban life.

There are no separate enrolment criteria for boarding students. When students are enrolled at St Paul’s their caregivers may elect to change their son's or daughter’s status between that of a day student, weekly boarder or full boarder according to their circumstances and the availability of accommodation.

All policies, procedures and guidelines of the day school and the boarding houses are derived from the same underlying Christian ethos. Although the boarding houses are separate from the day school, the welfare, behavioural management and support structures that exist in the day school are also available to boarding students and boarding house staff.
